Forged Scrolls save material and reduce machining effort

Air conditioning systems are now standard in every car. However, the system concepts to date have been rather on the noisy side. This is particularly noticeable in electric vehicles, which are otherwise so silent.

Here, electrically driven scroll compressors are often used instead of conventional reciprocating compressors. These generate lower noise emissions, are more efficient, and thus increase the range of the vehicle. The application benefits – as do many others – from forged components. This represents a new challenge that Hirschvogel is happy to take on.

A fixed and orbiting scroll form the heart of the compressor. The relative movement of the two produces the compression in the cooling circuit. By means of forging, we offer you excellent product properties for both components in combination with a resource-efficient process chain.

Forged scrolls require less material than components machined from bar stock. In addition to this resource efficiency, forgings can be produced with a low machining allowance. As a result, finish machining is more cost-effective. Machining can be reduced even further by generating forged areas that are ready for assembly.

Hirschvogel offers both near-net-shape forgings as well as ready-for-assembly finished scrolls of the highest precision.

Furthermore, scroll compressors are also used in stationary air conditioning systems and heat pumps. Thus, our forged scrolls will be able to provide the right climatic conditions in your next electric car or even in your home in the future.
