Hirschvogel expands site to accommodate aluminum production
San Juan del Río (Querétaro), Mexico / Denklingen, Germany – At Hirschvogel Components Mexico, construction work has begun on two new production halls spanning 7,500 square meters each. This expansion comes in response to the Hirschvogel Group securing a major contract from an OEM involving the future production of aluminum components in both Europe and North America.
Aluminum production for the North American market
This contract enables Hirschvogel to expand its site in Mexico, which has specialized in steel until now, to include state-of-the-art aluminum forging with integrated input stock production. Start-up of the new facility is scheduled for mid-2028. “The future production of aluminum components directly on site in Mexico will benefit our customers in the North American market,” says Özgür Dogru, Global Key Account Manager at the Hirschvogel Group. “Particularly against the backdrop of growing trade barriers, tariffs, and rising freight costs, local production is becoming increasingly important.”
Globally networked production on three continents
With this investment, Hirschvogel is further strengthening its global production footprint. “Our plants in Germany, China, and Mexico enable us to offer forged and machined aluminum components locally in the three most important market regions of the world,” explains Thorsten Grah, Vice President Corporate Sales. “At the same time, we retain the necessary flexibility to also supply our customers across locations, as needed.”
The site expansion is also of key importance for the company’s strategic direction. “As a drive-independent business area, aluminum forging is continuing to grow in significance for us,” says CEO Matthias Kratzsch. “We are currently connecting our production sites in Europe, Asia, and North America to form a global production network, allowing us to manufacture at the location that is optimum from the customer’s perspective.”
With the expansion of the plant in Mexico, Hirschvogel is underscoring its position as one of the leading international manufacturers of components for the automotive industry – including in the field of forged aluminum components.
