Large commercial vehicles require large transmission shafts. Hirschvogel is one of the few manufacturers in Europe to forge transmission shafts for heavy commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses, construction machinery and tractors. We can produce shafts with a length of up to 1,000 mm and a weight of up to 35 kg by means of cold forging. Compared to horizontally forged transmission shafts, those produced by cold forging have no flash and require only minimal machining allowances (near net shape). Individual functional surfaces such as splines can even be forged so that they are ready for assembly. Overall, the machining effort is significantly reduced. Other advantages include, for example, higher fatigue strength due to load-optimized fiber flow.
