The intermediate shaft leads the torque of the transfer gearbox in a longitudinal direction on the one hand and into a disk carrier on the other. This disk carrier is welded onto the intermediate shaft by the customer. The part demonstrates ready-for-assembly cold forged splines in a blind hole and is case-hardened for reasons of strength. During a simultaneous engineering process, Hirschvogel worked together with the customer and designed this part to be approx. 10 % lighter compared to an earlier version. At the same time, the stiffness values increased and the production costs sank.
