Shaft: continuously variable transmission (CVT)

In CVTs with push belts, the positioning of the two bevel shafts determines the transmission ratio. The high contact pressure on the bevel surfaces does not permit fiber exit, so that such parts may be produced favorably by means of vertical forging. With this type of forging, the parking gear which is obligatory for automatic transmissions can also be warm forged and cold calibrated in net shape, so that a second part does not have to be procured, machined and joined.
