Constant-velocity ball joints are located on the outer side of the drive shaft. They enable high bending angles during homokinetic torque transmission. At Hirschvogel, these parts are warm forged and then cold calibrated on the inner side to near-net shape. Currently, soft machining – including rolling of the splines and oil grooves on the bearing surfaces – is being carried out in India ready for induction hardening.
