This part is located in a front-transverse application between the combustion engine and the double-clutch transmission. It carries a multi-plate clutch which engages or disengages the disk-shaped electric motor in the transmission bell housing as required. To save weight, the part is largely hollow. The splines are produced by forging. The part has several fine drill holes, some of which are highly oblique. To ensure the required strength, the component is plasma nitrided and machined in some places following heat treatment.
