Wheel hub with screwed in bearing
Weight savings and reduction in number of parts
Steel wheel bearings are usually screwed onto aluminum chassis components. Hirschvogel proposes to equip the bearing ring with an external thread, so that it can be screwed into a steering knuckle or wheel-carrier part with internal thread. This leads to weight reduction, a lower number of parts and less assembly effort.
Hot forging, machining, heat treatment
- Lower weight
- Fewer individual parts
- Reduced assembly effort
