Four wheel hubs are needed in every vehicle. Many wheel hubs have a conventional, rotationally symmetric design. However, lightweight design optimizations are possible, particularly in the area of the flange. Here, the flange can be designed with stiffening elements exclusively along the bending torque load. Likewise, the ring for centering the wheel rim can also be designed as three, four or five single towers in a cost-efficient way when producing them by forging, thereby enabling additional weight savings. The resulting part is highly challenging for the hot forging process, as it is produced in a resource-efficient way without flash.
