Cross rolling is a highly efficient and cost-effective hot forging process. A part rotates about its longitudinal axis between two tools; the geometry of the tools is continuously transferred onto the billet until it achieves its final shape. At Hirschvogel we have taken cross rolling to the next level. In a patent-pending process, it is possible for the first time to generate non-rotationally symmetric parts through the appropriate design of both tools. The innovative strength of the Hirschvogel Automotive Group is thus leading to considerable cost savings in the case of these trend parts, which will be produced in high volumes in future.
