Forging

Hirschvogel Automotive Group

In metal forming technology a distinction is made between forging and sheet metal forming. Forging involves spatially distributing the material by means of local, often significant, changes to the cross section and wall thicknesses of the workpiece. Sheet metal forming, by contrast, involves forming flat workpieces.

The manufacturing technology at Hirschvogel is focused on the forging of steel and aluminum using compact solid and hollow cross sections as billets. During most forging processes, multidirectional compression or tension/compression stress states prevail in the deformation zone.
